President's Message
Welcome to the ASHE New England Chapter!
I’m honored to serve as both President of this new chapter and Chief Engineer at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. These roles allow me to see firsthand how essential collaboration, innovation, and shared knowledge are to the success of our transportation systems—and how powerful our ASHE community can be in driving that success forward.
At ASHE New England, we proudly support the national mission of the American Society of Highway Engineers: "To provide a forum for members and partners of the highway industry to promote a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation system through education, innovation, and fellowship."
Our chapter brings together dedicated professionals from both the public and private sectors—engineers, planners, contractors, consultants, and more—who all play a critical role in shaping the infrastructure of our region. Whether you’re helping preserve our historic roadways or delivering modern, multimodal solutions, your work matters, and ASHE is here to support it.
As Chapter President, I’m committed to providing opportunities for meaningful engagement through technical programs, networking events, mentorship, and professional development. This chapter is not just a place to stay informed—it’s a place to stay connected and inspired.
Thank you for being a part of the ASHE New England community. I invite you to get involved, share your expertise, and help us continue building a better, safer, and more sustainable transportation future for New England.
Carrie Lavallee, P.E.
President, ASHE New England Chapter
